It unlikely that world oil supplies will be totally exhausted within the next 50 years.
But just as coal, the fuel of choice during the industrial revolution, became unfashionable in the consumer age
so oil is falling out of favour in the information age. Already oil has lost large sections of the electricity
generating market to natural gas. Environmental concerns will make it difficult to exploit a large proportion
of the remaining reserves of oil much of which is in the form of high sulphur oil baring shale.
However concerns over the environment and enthusiasm on their own will not be enough to drive
the adoption of alternative energy sources such a wind and solar power. These technologies must be compelling
and economic for both the generator and the consumer. CarbonFree’s analysis of alternative energy systems and
carbon reduction strategies provides data and background information for vendors, users, investors and decision
makers.
In our report ' 101 Ways To Kick The Carbon Habit ' we provide a straightforward overview of the wide range of services and technologies currently being deployed to limit carbon emissions and reduce the world's dependency on fossil fuels.
